Hot Water Heater Leak Caused Major Flood in Basement

This is a flooded basement in Connecticut. This flood was the result of a broken hot water tank in the basement. Notice how deep the water is! hot water heater leaked overn ight. Homeowner woke up in the morning and her basement was flooded with a few inches of water.
Furniture and contents were affected in the partially finished basement. She called SERVPRO of Meriden and we responded at 6:00 am.
Air movers were used. Cat 2 loss due to source and Class 3 due to distribution and wicking. A Water mitigation Specialist and Water Mitigation Technician were discussed the demo and drying needs, as well as the need to remove glued down carpet. SERVPRO received approval for all demo, drying, anti-microbial, dump fees, after hours work, and contents manipulation. This job took 3 days drying for a total of 2 hours of multiple pieces of equipment and machines including dehumidifiers and air movers working 24 hours a day. HVAC was turned off through olut the process.
